JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! This is Stan's yaki (grilled) flounder set. He's had this before & loved it.

Look how beautiful this delicious egg custard is decorated. The flower is formed from pink fish paste, I think. It's shape represents ume -- plum, since it's officially Plum Season in this part of Japan. We're were admiring Eldon & Stan's custards, and our waiter brought Nancy and me each one for a "present." How thoughtful . . .

This is Stan's tray "after"

Looking into part of the open kitchen. I love that you can almost always see everything that goes on in the kitchen in Japanese restaurants. Fresh seafood await their fate in the tanks.
