JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. Downtown Chattanooga

Murals near the trolley stop.

Look at the interesting bottle-cap patio shades! This restaurant used to be a bottling plant. Now it's Mellow Mushroom, where we had a delicious pizza lunch.

Signs for the bathrooms.

Artwork.
After putting on swimsuits & sunscreen, the kids are playing in the water area down by the river in downtown Chattanooga. This is a very popular family area today.

Under the shade of a bridge.

Buggy rides were available.

Rare moment of tag-teaming together!

Andy, Amelia & Natalie enjoying the water.

This water feature was designed to look like something erupted from under the sidewalk.

At the Chattanooga Choo-Choo

Read all about it!

Back at the campsite, it's time to break camp. Andy's job is turning the crank to lower the popup. As you can see behind Andy, our neighbors are VERY close . . .

Job's nearly done & it's time to go home.

In Nashville

After a couple of weeks in Birmingham (and attempting to overcome jet lag!) I've driven to Nashville. I'm pleased to see the footprint cross-stitch pics that I made for Amelia & Natalie when they were born, are on the wall in their beautiful bedroom. Although I didn't show them, their cribs have been replaced with "big girl beds." It's hard for me to realize they're already 2-1/2!

Andy's room. His 3-month whiteboard calendar allows him to keep track of when events are going to happen.

Natalie riding on the wild side!

Amelia -- Hmmm, what can I get into now?

Dog Callie and her boy Andy.

Traffic jam in the driveway!

Nashville Zoo

Always places to go & stuff to see here in Nashville. We've gone to the Zoo. It's a hot day, but everyone is sunscreened and I always stay in the shade as much as possible!

Walking into the zoo we see lillipads in a pond . . . but didn't see any frogs.

Meerkat habitat. Who is examining whom?

Andy's "sunhat" helps keeps out the bright sun.
Giraffes

Andy enjoys the elephants up close.

Thistles & elephants . . .
Sign for the "Afrika" animals . . .

Roses!

Inside the fenced bird sanctuary. Apparently, the birds like rose petals.
Amelia's impish grin . . .

Wood ducks?

All the children enjoyed the bird area.
Bright birds struttin' around.

The beautiful carousel at the Nashville Zoo. All the "horses" are zoo animals!

Andy chose a meerkat (I think) next to the polar bear.
Lisa & Amelia on the carousel. Amelia chose a tiger cub, of course.

I'm riding with Natalie who's on a pink flamingo -- Uh, what's happening?

Yikes -- Are you sure I want to do this?
Natalie preferred watching herself in the mirror, as we whirled around.

Natalie decides this IS fun. Sister Amelia rides behind with Mommy Lisa.

Andy's big enough to ride alone.
