Day on Lake Mead

We're driving from Kingman to a marina nearby.

First glimpse of the lake. Look at that beautiful color!

Decorative tile as we drive through the entrance to the park.

After a short drive from Kingman, we've arrived at the AZ end of Lake Mead. This area is much less congested than other areas, so the Crowls prefer to put the boat in here.

Beautiful desert landscape at the rest area.

Beautiful Heather coming out of the rest area. . .
Approaching the boat dock & marina. Since the water is way down this year, it's a looong walk out to the water!

After working all week to get his boat ready, Kipp discovered a problem just before we left, so we rented a deck boat for the day. This is nice & roomy & we will all enjoy the shade . . .

And away we go . . .

Interesting rock formations in Lake Mead.

Stan's enjoying the shade . . .
Kelly is fearless & shows us the easy way to get in the water to cool off.

Grandma's a little more cautious, but manages to climb down.
Oh, what a wonderful way to cool off!

Closer view of an interesting rock in Lake Mead.

You have to look closely to see the mountain sheep among the rocks.

Grampa thinks this would be a good day for Kelly to learn to fish.

Kelly helps her dad drive the boat as we look for a better fishing spot.

Kelly wants to try one more time.
Kelly's hooked a good one, so grampa helps bring it in.

Grampa & Heather pose with Kelly and her VERY FIRST fish!

. . . and Kelly's ready to catch another one!
Guess Kelly's hooked on fishing now!

Kelly & Heather

Cody snoozing in his life jacket.
The white rock shows how far the water is down.

Stan tries for one more fish . . .

One last cooling swim before we head back to the dock.

Cody's hot from his first outing on the lake and although it's not his favorite, he finally agrees to drink water . . .

Grandma & Grampa are hot, too! But we had a great day!

This is the first place to stop on the way back to Kingman from the lake, so here we are at Rosie's.
