Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. 3-Corners Festival 12/23

December 23rd is a Japanese Holiday - the Emperor's Birthday. We've ridden our bikes a few short blocks off-base to a festival at 3-corners that our friend Elaine told us about. As soon as we arrived, we were approached by the Japanese police. I thought they were going to tell us where to park our bicycles, but they just wanted Santa Stan to pose for pictures with them! After about 5 minutes of them taking pictures, I took this one, and you can see how my flash lighted up their safety gear.

This huge lighted tree is the main attraction of the light display.

Bamboo candle holders on the ground made a soft light.
