Fortunately for us here in Japan, our American TV comes through AFN (Armed Forces Network), which means we do not get ANY paid TV ads, including political. So in order to get political information, I have been "forced" to watch actual speeches that all candidates make, as well as ALL the news shows that we get here -- those who favor neither, as well as those who clearly favor one side or the other, because I want to see both sides. Of course, the news programs show clips of the ads, especially the worst ones, and we clearly see that the campaign is getting pretty nasty!
So, no matter your political affiliation, most people in the US can't help but be influenced by these biased TV ads which "stretch the truth" to put it mildly. If you want to educate yourself and not just believe the worst about the candidates (aren't we smarter than that?) please check out this UNBIASED website:

In addition, you can see FOR YOURSELF how each senator ACTUALLY voted -- not just someone else's interpretation of how they voted. Go to the links below, scroll down to "Pick an Issue" & you can choose from a list of categories, then hit the "GO" button. For example, check out how each voted for Veterans' issues or Women's issues -- you may be surprised.
