It's a school holiday today (MLK's and my dad, CLR's birthdays -- both great peacemakers), so we're heading out to Yasaka Dam, with Pam & Jake. Stan's driving & Jake's navigating, so we're in great hands! We started out on Hwy 2 and then turned onto 187 following the Nishiki River for a while. Then we turned off toward Miwa and into the mountains. After passing through Miwa (for a potty and coffee stop at Lawson's), we'll go through the Yasaka Dam area, then continue on to Otake. We'll make a huge circle and end up back in Iwakuni. It's really a beautiful and peaceful drive. The last time we went here was in September 2005, so you can go back into the archives & see different pictures of this area if you like. The vegetation looks very different this time of year.
We're out in the country. Not exactly, but maybe just a "little" lost when we came across this very interesting art sculpture in someone's yard, so I had to take pictures. We hadn't seen a car in many miles until I stepped out of the car, of course . . .
