JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! While the paint dries, I'm taking pictures of some other artwork inside this craft building. These projects are made from dried rice sheaths. The top one is a crane and the bottom one is a turtle.

This is our sensei (teacher) for our goldfish craft project. She was very patient with us.

"Exploded" goldfish parts. This very strong paper really absorbed the paint quickly, so we had to be very careful. In the small crockpot, there is hot parafin wax. We used this to paint on the designs and it also stopped the paint from bleeding into the white part.
