JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Uvella drives us to the Fussa station near the base, where we will ride a local into Tokyo. Posted by Picasa

Busy Tokyo Station -- but notice how clean & shiny everything is! Posted by Picasa

Yum -- this was my obento box lunch on the train. From left to right: Cooked salmon & salmon eggs on rice, fish & vegetables in center, pickled vegetables, mushrooms & rice on right. Stan opted for small sandwiches, but I shared some of mine with him. Posted by Picasa

Interesting buildings as we pull into a station. Notice the large TV screen at the bottom of the tallest building. Posted by Picasa

We're in Car 9, a non-smoking car. This electronic sign runs in Japanese and English. At one point, it told us we were going over 300 kph (@186 mph). Posted by Picasa

Kelly's Halloween in AZ

This is Kelly (6) in her Princess on a Unicorn costume! How cute is this? If you look closely, you will see that she's wearing a pink kimono from Japan! She told me her Mom stayed home & gave out candy this year with Memaw, and Daddy and Pepaw (they were visiting from Phoenix) went out trick or treating with her. She added that Pepaw "gave up" after a while and walked home. She said it was lots of fun & she got lots of goodies!

Happy Halloween!

Bob was very excited and all dressed for Halloween!
More trick-or-treaters than we've ever had!

A whole family of pirates

These HS students had performed at an assembly at school, and "volunteered" to show me in our hallway, what I had missed. Since there was no music for their dance, they hummed. It was a GREAT show!

There were long waits for the elevator.

"Goblins" in our building!

Yukari -- she cuts Stan's hair, but she usually looks a little different. You may remember her from last year's party as a blonde frog . . .?
Japanese trick or treaters counting out their loot . . .

Tommy -- King of his castle . . .

When we ran out of candy (in only about an hour!) we went over to Ingrid's for goodies!
Yum -- look at this feast!

Ingrid's students & their families sharing good company & good food!
