JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Early Drive to Hikari & Yanai 9/25/11

It's 6:15 on Sunday morning and we've decided to go to the Hikari market a little earlier than usual. The sun is just coming up over the mountains out in the Seto Inland Sea - looking out the BR balcony.

Gorgeous! I don't see the sunrise very often . . .

By 7:30 we're driving over the Monzen Bridge on our way to Hwy 188 to head south-west toward Yanai.

Some of the lotus has already been harvested, but much is still there. Iwakuni lotus is famous all over Japan.

Headed until the small train tunnel - part of our shortcut to avoid traffic on 188 near the base.

Wow! Gorgeous view over the Seto Inland Sea about 7:45 . . . I love this drive along the sea.

Passing by the Yuu beach area.

We always see this little "mom & pop" vegetable booth on our way & decided to stop this morning. They're always sold out & closed by the time we return.

The table is made out of many bamboo stalks.

Bright canna lilies alongside the highway.
