Half-way down the big hill that leads into Tsuwano, we decided to stop at the big hotel where we stayed before - just to see if they had any vacancies. This colorful flower garden greets you as you pull into the driveway.

The main entrance.

And very large flower arrangement.

Inside the open air hallway, you take off your shoes & carry them to a locker, where you switch out for a pair of slippers to be worn inside the hotel.

My beautiful toes inside my slippers. Of course the slippers are always too small for Stan, but I encouraged him to wear them anyway just to be polite.

Going into the toire (toilet) area, take off your regular slippers & put on potty slippers . . . these are NEVER worn out of this area!

Inside the lobby of the hotel. Stan would rather not drive back today if we don't have to - it's a long drive & we can have more time to tour if we stay.

Plants & a small wooden decoration depicting the egret (heron) dancers are on display inside. Hooray! We lucked out & there was a large room available on the 6th floor, so we'll go to the downtown area for a few hours & check in later.

Outside near the entrance, I saw this very large butterfly resting.

We've driven our car down the steep hill & parked in a public lot in the center of Tsuwano town. It only costs 400 yen for the day. Then we unloaded our bikes & took off. Our first stop was the giant heron sculptures by the river. These are so beautiful. There are public restrooms here, so we'll be back several times today!

Stan found a bike/walking path we had not taken before on this side of the river, so off we go.

Wow - Look at this fabulous rose garden in someone's yard! They must love roses as much as I do . . .

Many different colors here . . .
