JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! And beautiful red roses . . .

To our right below us is the river, and I saw a large crane - that's good luck!

And further along, we passed a very large Rose of Sharon bushes. There is a very nice wide riverwalk here that's perfect for walking & riding bikes. The sound of the river was very refreshing although it's pretty hot today out in the sun.

A perfect blossom - these are related to hibiscus - & they look like them.

Now we've made a large circle and ended up back near the train station. That's a static display of one of the steam train engines. Tsuwano is famous for their steam train trips during cooler weather. We made that trip last autumn and it was such fun, although we were covered with fine black soot when we arrived!

Tile design of egrets with wings spread at train station. These designs are all over Tsuwano.

Bright flowers near station.

Oh - it's our very favorite sushi bar in Tsuwano & it's lunchtime. We've been here 2 or 3 times before and it's always delicious.

I love this stone statue of one of Japan's gods holding a fish outside. Seems very appropriate . . .

Stan outside the restaurant. He's wearing his sweat rag around his head to stay cooler.
