It's shortly after 5:30 AM (Yikes!) & I'm looking at the sun rise over the Inland Sea outside my BR balcony. We're off on an ITT (base tour office) day trip today for an "all you can eat BBQ & all you can drink Asahi beer" brewery trip to Shikoku Island . . . sounds like fun!
It's shortly after 7 & our guide for the day is Koji. He's filling us in on our day's itinerary. This bus is very comfortable & we have a full load today. Needless to say, this is a VERY popular trip!
Crossing the river as we head toward Hwy 2 downtown & beyond. The bridge to our left is the pedestrian bridge that we ride our bikes over when we're biking into downtown Iwakuni.
Crossing an unused track banked with bright red canna lilies.
Looking through the front windshield of the tour bus - from our vantage on the elevated Sanyo Expressway. Those are sound baffles curving above us to protect the people living below from excess traffic noise. How thoughtful.
A few low clouds still hang over the trees.
Time for our first potty stop of the day & we are greeted by a Lego Samurai (?) in the rest stop shop.
Panda cookies at the bakery inside.
A vase of fresh flowers on the wall leading into the women's bathroom.
Instruction sign on the controls for the fancy Japanese potty - I LOVE these things!
Self-explanatory, mostly . . . the flushing sound button makes an electronic flushing sound - uses no water - so I'm guessing it's just for modesty's sake.
Sink area in the huge potty with fresh flowers & even fish tanks!
This is sunflower season (along with many other summer flowers!)
Beautiful spray of fresh pink flowers - which are always my favorite!
