My cute Japanese calendar shows bunnies (Year of the Rabbit) wearing innertubes & jumping into water for August - this is because it's finally turned HOT here! (but still not as hot as in the US!)
Outside MCAS Iwakuni's Monzen Gate, lotus fields as far as the eye can see . . .
Beautiful white blossoms, but I'm always looking for the occasional pink one . . .
In the produce department at Vesta Supermarket. Fabulous, perfect (& expensive!) peaches.
This section is like our local farmers' market inside the store - all from Yamaguchi farmers.
See the lotus buds? I bought some for my table. And I especially like supporting our local farmers.
Hmmm . . . wonder what "Hotel Margerine" is?
Cute pastries in the bakery. Sue - this made me think of you! (No - not the pig - the ladybug!)
Back home outside our building, we see a small pink flower blooming against the building. My neighbor had told me one of my seeds must have fallen from my balcony flowers above & taken root there. Amazing!
Oh - it's a snapdragon! I thought it would be a petunia . . .
I'm upstairs peeking over our 5th floor BR balcony, where my petunias are growing through the rails.
I do have pots of snapdragons on the balcony as well, but they don't hang over like the petunias.
From inside the balcony . . .
Snapdragons & begonias. Begonias & geraniums (on front balcony) never stop blooming here - all year around.
