JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Up ahead you can see the mist as the waves hit the seawall. The weather just gets worse and worse as we approach Hikari . . . Oh, well - it's a pretty drive anyway.

Good size waves for the Inland Sea!

But look what all the rain does for flowers in Japan!

It's nearly deserted when we arrive at the Hikari Market on the Murozumi Temple grounds, but we decide to go ahead & stop anyway since we're here. Hide (Hee-deh), from the shop in downtown Iwakuni (where we bought our large tansu), is still here, as is the bakery man, but both are packing up to leave as the wind off the sea whips their tarps!

Looking toward the temple you can see that we're about the only ones here. We did make a small purchase from both these vendors since they were still open for us.

But turtles & goldfish don't seem to mind the rain & wind.

Large turtle just chillin' . . .

The iris's are nearly finished blooming here, but I found some in this bamboo planter in the pond.
