We decided to keep driving on Hwy 188 toward Kudamatsu. This outdoor recycle shop has lots of colorful kiddie bikes. Children learn to ride at a VERY young age here.
A sign along the sea: "Don't let large waves wash over your car!"???
Look at the colorful hedge under the elevated road! We were looking for an Italian restaurant that Barbara & I ate at one time & I wanted to take Stan there. But we missed it. When 188 intersected with Rt 2, we should have turned left instead of right, maybe . . .
Yep - roses!
Sign along Rt 2 as we return to Iwakuni. We've made a huge, elongated oval, starting out on Hwy 188 & returning along Rt 2. Nice day for a drive since it's too rainy & windy to be outside anyway.
Large stone statue alongside the highway. Not sure what this represents though. Reminds me of a very tall pagoda . . .
Inside a long tunnel.
Small cemetery on a hillside.
Oh - let's stop at Campagne to eat! We haven't been here in a long time. This is right on Hwy 15 just as you come back into the busy area of Iwakuni. (Hwy 15 goes to Chicken Shack via Panda Recycle shop.) At some point on Rt 2, we turned onto Hwy 15.
Sign over the courtyard as you enter. We used to eat here with Matt & Emilie, who are now living in Huntsville, AL. If you're reading this - we miss you!
