And surprise! Underneath the prosciutto - is one perfect sweet melon ball!
Pumpkin, corn & soybean soup, served with the chef's delicious homemade bread! Every time we've eaten here, the entrees are just a little different, according to what's in season, so everything is fresh.
The salad plate included delicious dark greens, 1 peeled cherry tomato, and a slice of vegetable aspic - very cool & refreshing! Also, delicious!
Closer view of the aspic slice - I've never had anything like this before! There were tiny pieces of baby vegetables suspended in the gelatin and wrapped with thin slices of cucumber (I think).
Oh - my VERY favorite dish and a Blue Bird original! Shrimp in puff pastry with lemony cream sauce. The cooked head & tails are placed on either end & it's shaped like a good luck crane before baking. You can't imagine how light & delicate this is . . .
Stan said his beef steak - with red peppercorns & sauce- was the best he's ever had! Under the mint garnish is a spoonful of mashed potato and a grilled tomato wedge.
And I was mostly full before my main course arrived, but I made an effort & Stan ate the rest. My plate contained a perfect small portion of just about every kind of seafood imaginable - delicious!
And a small creamy egg custard in heart-shaped cups for dessert!
Served with coffee of course. Doesn't even bother me to have coffee late at night anymore. I'm SO no longer decaffeinated . . .
What a great meal and a great evening. Of course the proprietor (and chef) wrapped up all the mint for me to take home, as well as several of the cheese rolls & a whole loaf of her fabulous homemade bread!
Yikes! 30 years - where does the time go??? Earlier in the day I was browsing through the memory book that the kids made for us for our 25th & I ran across this picture from our wedding - July 18, 1981 . . .
