Looking out the BR balcony, I see that all the jets have been tucked away in the hanger. The wind has been blowing pretty hard in Iwakuni today as Typhoon Ma-on approaches. See the blue "thingy" near the middle of the photo? It's a twirley thing that helps scare away the birds. It blew off shortly after this photo . . .
Yep - it's a tight fit.
My petunias are beautifully blooming and hanging down from our 5th floor balcony, so I thought I should get one last photo in case they are blown away. I've moved all the light pots & decorations to a safer location, but these planters & the lattice are secured to the balcony rails.
Outside in front of our building waiting for our taxi to go to dinner. We're determined to celebrate our anniversary & hopefully the weather will cooperate!
Just outside the Main Gate in the back of our taxi. Stan picked up a copy of Blue Bird's menu (in Japanese) so he's provided this to the driver so he can find it. Great idea, Stan! We were there for my birthday in March so it's about time to return!
And only about 12 minutes later, we arrive at the Blue Bird - just a couple of blocks behind the YMCA downtown near the end of a dead-end. BTW - for those of you who are in Iwakuni (or used to be): that huge raised parking lot where we always parked, is closed & is being demolished! Can't wait to see what's going to be there next. But we usually ride our bikes to get here anyway, (except during typhoons!) so I guess it won't affect us.
Hmmm . . . did I EVER have a body like her??? Oh I see the problem, I'm just too short!
Inside, there is a gorgeous & enormous arrangement of red gladiolas & soft-leaf pine branches. We were the only customers tonight . . . Not only is the typhoon on it's way, but it's a Japanese holiday today.
And Stan has surprised me with a single pink rose, waiting for me on the table. Thanks, Stan! Amazing that he still remembers that pink roses are always my favorite . . . I've taken off my "jacket" shirt, because it's a little warm inside, but of course the owner had us move to right under the AC - so we would be more comfortable. I LOVE Japan!
Still life on the bar. Like most Japanese restaurants, the entire kitchen is right behind the bar.
