Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Typhoon Ma-on (#6) & Beyond . . .

We lucked out Monday night & were able to make it to our anniversary dinner. This photo is about noon Tuesday (7/19) from my BR balcony - the wind was blowing VERY strong today. The planes are all gone or put away & cloud cover is very heavy, but STILL no rain to speak of - just a little mist . . .

I thought the colors of the sky were BEAUTIFUL Tuesday night!

Wednesday we had a little rain and still some wind, so I drove to the gym for my water workout. Found this cicada resting on the front balcony on a strap used to tie down some of my large planters. I thought I had been hearing them outside in the trees before the typhoon.

He's really holding on . . .

By Thursday, everything was back to normal - planes were back outside. Sky is blue with some fluffy white clouds and temp is cooler - so I'm back on my bike!

And to the right - the "floating" island is still where it belongs in the Seto Inland Sea . . . and the terminal building further to the right above the jets.

Looking toward the left, I see a large ship coming or going from our port.

And further left still - just above the bowling alley, you can see all the cranes - building something where the Mac Dome used to be.

Oh - look at that cool plane flying above! Japanese, I think . . .
