Or maybe it's more this way??? The top of these windows were open & the breeze was cool & refreshing!
I believe this building is one of the original ones . . . hard to tell the difference between it & the restored ones.

OK - you have to indulge me on more of these various views of Kumamoto City . . .
This shows only the FIRST flight of stairs down. I don't remember how many flights there were, but I think more than 6 or 7 or . . . ? and we were NOT allowed to take pictures on the stairway or the floors - which housed many samurai antiques.
It was nice & cool up here with the windows open at the top & I really didn't want to start back down yet since it took a while to climb up here!
