JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! We asked this guide if he was uncomfortable in his costume & he replied in perfect English, but gruffly - as a Samurai might - that "a Samurai is NEVER uncomfortable!" He was really "into" his part! Having these English-speaking guides made this castle experience our best yet!

And more costumed guides to pose with in front of the main castle at Kumamoto. But we didn't want to take the time to wait . . .

So we moved over a bit & I took this one of Stan.

Yep - that's where we're going. See the folks in the windows just under the top roof? Hoping for an elevator . . . some castles we've been to have them.

After a LOOOOONG climb up (no elevator!) we're now the ones in those windows looking down at folks below, over a roof tile ornament.
