JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Looking down toward a lower rooftop fish decoration.

That mountain profile is famous in Kumamoto & we saw it copied on many gift items.

We've climbed back down all the stairs (no elevator here!) and are back in front of the main castle building. Difficult to tell the "newer" restorations from the original parts of this castle. Magnificent!

This is the largest ginko tree I have ever seen! And they grow VERY slowly, so I can't imagine how old it must be . . .

The large ginko with Kumamoto Castle behind.

Amazing timbers under the castle.

One of the castle buildings high atop a stone wall.

The same roof decoration seen from below.

A little Samurai! (FYI - it's a toy sword)
