That mountain profile is famous in Kumamoto & we saw it copied on many gift items.
We've climbed back down all the stairs (no elevator here!) and are back in front of the main castle building. Difficult to tell the "newer" restorations from the original parts of this castle. Magnificent!
This is the largest ginko tree I have ever seen! And they grow VERY slowly, so I can't imagine how old it must be . . .
