JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! A short walk through Hondori Shopping Street & we've arrived at Molly Malone's. Mark & his son are hanging out today. Boy is he getting big! His mom got the day off for Mother's Day & they're leaving to meet her soon for dinner.

Kampai Nancy & Eldon! We always think of them when we're here. . .

Stan's starting with his regular cabbage.

Then he had roast pork, with potatoes & more cabbage & a tiny container of fresh applesauce. He said it was delicious! I had my regular veggie quiche & salad, but forgot to take a pic. Oops. Guess I was hungry . . .

After a delicious dinner & rest, we're back out on the street waiting for the streetcar in downtown Hiroshima. Time to start heading for home.

And after just a few minutes' ride, we're back at Hiroshima Station.

After a restful 50 min train ride back to Iwakuni - during which I think we both dozed! Now we're back on our bikes waiting at a crossing. This was interesting - see the red arrows under the two red lights on the right side? That means there's a train coming from each direction, so we'll have a bit of a wait - but it's never very long because trains are always short here. This is the narrow "shortcut" road that heads from Hwy 188 along the river to the pedestrian/bike bridge.

And back on the bridge. In just a few minutes, we'll be back home. Great day!
