She brought us outside to show us this beautiful little ume (plum) tree still in bloom at the side of the restaurant (usually plum are finished blooming by cherry season).
Perfect plum blossoms. They are different from cherry because the petal has a rounded edge, rather than the heart-shape petal of the cherry.
As is the custom in Japan, she patiently waits for us to leave to show respect & thank us for coming. We've eaten here 3 times now (all within the past couple of years) so they know us!
We've ridden over to the main street now where Tsuwano Catholic church stands. Father Villion came to this town Tsuwano to propagate Christianity in 1892, and soon Tsuwano Catholic Church was built at the heart of Tsuwano.
Across the street is Tsuwano's most famous & most often visited gift shop. This is where colorful washi-paper covered bamboo plates & trays are sold, as well as sweet bean paste cakes.
