JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Close view of purple & white pansies outside the shop . . . In a few more months, there will be thousands of water iris blooming in & around these open canals. I'd love to see that - Tsuwano is very famous for their iris.

Break time & I'm having iced coffee & tirimisu inside the shop - yummy! And served on the beautiful little washi-paper covered bamboo plates that are sold in this shop. There were tourists here, but not NEARLY as many as the last time we came. Tourism is really suffering . . .

Looking into one of the beautiful Japanese dining rooms in this shop.

Oh, today we found a chef making some of the famous Tsuwano bean cakes by hand. Usually, we see huge mechanical contraptions making them en masse! So I started taking pictures to capture this special event. One section is already cooking on this hot griddle.

Now he's pouring batter into a utensil that will evenly spread it onto the hot surface.
