Flower box in the tour bus parking lot across the street from Yanai's city gymnasium. We always park here (free!) & today we brought our bikes - yay! We were very surprised to find this parking lot completely empty today. Sightseeing pamphlets are available inside the shop here, along with restrooms. The man who works here told us that tourism has really suffered as a result of the March 11 disaster in Northern Japan. Very sad.
Convenient sit-down potty with sink on back. Great space-saver!
Stan on his bike, as we ride into Yanai's famous White Wall District. This area is very reminiscent of Kyoto . . . but much closer & easier to visit!
Helpful map on the street.
We were disappointed to find many of the shops closed, but it's still such a beautiful place to visit.
We were practically alone today.
We did find this man with his young son. Proud Papa!
Many flowers along these streets, but also herbs & veggies thriving in the Spring sunshine!
Small shrine outside Seikoji Temple(I think) as we ride through quiet streets.
