JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Stan & Margie in front of the gorgeous Emperor's Cup - highest award for the winner of each tournament. Of course it's in a glass class, along with all the other awards that the winners receive.

One last look inside the nearly empty arena before we leave . . .

Wow! Stan & I are posing with the "Gold Hat Guy" - famous in Japan! We see him on TV at EVERY TOURNAMENT! He's always center screen just a few rows up. He was very gracious. Behind us are one of the many gorgeous pictures that line the hallway outside the arena.

Outside the arena, I snap Stan & Netra.

And she gets one of us under the beautiful banners. I'm still wearing my "sweat rag" around my neck, but it's cooled off quite a bit now.

These huge banners are so colorful and make a wonderful sound as the wind billows through them.

Around the corner near a train station, we see PAY bicycle parking! Yikes - this is new to us.

Stan & Netra are buying tickets for our return trip in the station. All automated of course. All the colorful signs (and English translation) make it fairly easy.

On the platform . . . Oh - see that cute pinkish train? It's the Romance Car that we saw a sign for earlier this afternoon.

And I like this very colorful train with Japanese anime' characters.
