JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! It feels really nice & breezy up here on the platform, after a couple of hours inside waiting for our train to arrive. During the few minutes we've been up here, we've watched many pedestrians and bicycles going up & down that hill nearby.

Lady in kimono pulling her bag toward the station.

Sign above us indicates that the Shinkansen (bullet train) stops here at Yokohama. The cities on the bottom right & left in smaller indicate the next stop each direction.

Finally - our train is coming! We're on the 13:09 to Hiroshima, so it will be the next one to arrive after the 12:49 has departed. Hooray!

On the train now and time for lunch, so we pull out the bentos we bought in the waiting area. Beautiful box - decorated for autumn.

Yum! I LOVE eating a little bite of many delicious items - especially so artfully displayed.

Naptime for Stan.

I love that we have all this foot room - even space for our small bags in front of us. Our large bags are overhead. And this is not even the Green Car - Shinkansen's "first class" cars. There is also a fold-down tray & places to place items. And (unlike in an airplane) you can put your trays up & down whenever you want!

Each time we approach a stop, the name of the city crawls across the sign in Japanese & in English, telling us we're making a "brief stop . . ."

Beautiful blue sky with a few white clouds. Nice.

Nice views as cities and countryside roll by . . .
