Sunday Afternoon at Yuu Beach 8/7/11

We rested most of the day Sunday after our biking outing to the Kintai yesterday for fireworks, but we were ready to get out by late afternoon, so we drove out the Monzen Gate. Lotus is lush & blooming in these fields.

Beautiful lotus . . . Iwakuni is famous for it's lotus. These grow in shallow water.

As we drove down Hwy 188 (toward Yanai) we saw these uh, VERY interesting vehicles coming toward us, so I whipped out my camera . . . wow!

And a few more. No idea what they represent or where they were going, but we felt lucky to have seen them! We decided they must be Super Hero vehicles . . .

Looking out into a canal that leads into the Seto Inland Sea from the highway . . .

Flowers along Hwy 188 near shops.

Pulling into the parking lot at Yuu Beach - we decided this would be a good place to go on this hot late afternoon. There are public facilities as well as restaurants & shops here. When we first came to this area, this was just another seawall along Hwy 188. But as time passed, we watched this area being filled & reclaimed from the sea and this beautiful public beach area created. . . .

Walking on the sidewalk near the sea. There are several shaded area for eating & gathering.

I love this artistic seating/steps leading to the beach. They look like the shape of ocean waves to me.

I'm resting & having some water. The wet cloth helps keeps me cool during hot weather - a very common sight here during summer.
