The first egret dance of the day was performed on Tonomachi Street, near the Catholic Church.
Afterward, we rode back toward the river & the public bathrooms. That's my bike with our camp chairs strapped to the back.
That's the stone torii that leads toward the entrance of the 1000 orange torii gates, going up the hill - you can see the banners going up the hill.
Statues by the river that represent the egret dance. They have a new meaning now that we've actually seen the dance!
We decided to ride our bikes through the stone torii and back toward the entrance to the 1000 torii gates that lead up the hill to the shrine - maybe we'll hike up there again today??? Or maybe not . . . Stan stopped to buy water bottles from a streetside vending machine & I decided to take a brief video of the sights & sounds around me. Particularily, the water rushing down the hill in a small canal (also called benjo ditch).
