JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Dainty purple bell flowers (I think) in bloom. I believe I've done this flower in chigerie class . . .

Inside the downtown Iwakuni train station, there's a display set up of the lanterns used in the Kintai Bridge lantern festival. Placed side by side & rotated, you can get the whole picture at one time - cool!

Back out on the street, we notice that the little building on the corner (near our favorite parking lot) is no longer a house, but is becoming what looks like a restaurant. That glass window used to be the door!

And the blue awning is new, as is the narrow planter.

The pots are sitting on a wood shelf & there is metal for vines to grow upon.

Sign near the window - hmmm - not sure, but it looks like everything is 290 yen??? Guess we may have to try this place when it opens . . . if it's a restaurant. Could be another type of store I guess . . . (Nancy, Ingrid & Barbara - this is directly behind where Grampa's used to be on the back street).

On Rt 2 now driving toward Otake. Caught a glimpse of a pretty front yard of a house. Bike parking is on left side & car parking in front. Very efficient. But my favorite thing is the tiled front yard with grass growing between - beautiful!

Stan wanted to take his bike to the little bike shop in Otake that works on Giant bikes to see if he could recommend a more sturdy back wheel . . . he's going to check around & get back to us.

We found this race car in front of Nishimura Joy.

Beautiful water lillies for your pond . . .
