Walking along the very wide covered shopping street, we spy a little narrow passageway . . . so of course we have to check it out.
Some shops are closed but some are still open.
The passageway twisted & turned & we ended up back on another street. Look at this bright red rose bush in front of a small restaurant. It's much warmer here in southern Kyushu, so roses are already blooming.
Looking up, I see a cute window decorated with cats . . .
Sign on the street indicates that on the 3rd Floor (3F) is a "Cat Shelter" - but not exactly sure what that means.
Stan's walked down another narrow alleyway to see if there are any restaurants that look interesting, but he didn't find anything, so we'll keep walking.
Kumamoto manhole cover features camellia. This reminds me of a chigerie picture that I did a few years ago. And that reminds me of my friend Sue . . .
Back inside the covered mall, we decide to eat in a hotel restaurant where we ate last time we were in Kumamato. We love the fancy sets that hotels usually have. Bur first, a cool refreshing Kirin draft beer - kampai! - while we peruse the menu.
Looking from our "western-style" booth over at the Japanese-style private dining areas across the aisle from us. At the end of that hallway is the entrance into the main lobby of the hotel.
Each private dining area has a sliding door where you leave your shoes before entering. I saw a waiter walking along straightening them . . .
