Looking down on beautiful farmland from the Expressway.
Interesting sign on a building.
Crossing the high bridge from Kyushu back to Honshu Island.
More rice fields surrounded by beautiful homes.
This is where we switch to the Sanyo Expressway for Iwakuni. You can go to Hiroshima this way, but it's much further.
Heavy traffic on the expressway is slowing us down . . .
And we still have way more than 100 km to go! (Iwakuni is @ 30 km this side of Hiroshima.)
The clock says 6:17 & we're nearly stopped in traffic as we head into a long tunnel - I don't like the looks of this . . .
Oh that can't be good . . .
And after @ 20 minutes, one of my biggest fears has been realized - being STUCK inside one of these long tunnels! But the police were able to direct all traffic into one lane - around the accident - and we soon were out of the tunnel and on our way. We arrived home about the predicted time. Another great trip thanks to ITT - our on-base travel office.
