JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! The Yamaguchi steam train crosses the bridge as photographers snap away! Just below the large cherry tree, there is a man balanced on the top of a ladder for the perfect shot . . . how lucky are we to have been here twice today to see the steam train - coming AND going?!?!?

And one last shot as we cross the stone bridge before we head back to our car. I love taking our bicycles because we can see so much more and venture farther around. I could never have done this much walking today with my "old" left knee . . .

Driving out of Tsuwano valley toward the highway. The yellow & turquoise building is the front of the hotel where we stayed in back at Thanksgiving time. This is the first time we've been to Tsuwano during warm weather.

And the bright orange, open tunnel from the other direction . . . It is unique because most tunnels are completely surrounded on each side - not open along one side like this one. The view looks out into the river below.

We're back at the rest stop near Nishiki. After pottying, we went out back to this beautiful, peaceful patio. It's very large and there are several stone tables.
