Happy Birthday Stan!

Wine bottles line the windows along the tables at Maple City restaurant in Otake. We've stopped here for Stan's birthday dinner & were thrilled when we could get a table in this small & very good Japanese-Italian restaurant. We're a bit early, so maybe we beat the crowd . . .


We've started with fresh garlic bread & salads - yum! But apparently, my camera quit working - or I was enjoying dinner too much to take pictures of our pasta courses. But as I remember, Stan had spaghetti with meat & tomato sauce and I had my usual seafood with cream sauce. As always delicious!


Back home, it's time for the "official" birthday celebration.


Oh yes - it's a BIG birthday for Stan! The single candle on the left was supposed to play "Happy Birthday" but it malfunctioned, so I had to sing. The cake was an ice-cream cake from Baskin-Robbins with chocolate-chip ice cream & white cake. Yummy and just the right size for the two of us, with one more day of leftovers . . .


The birthday boy opens presents. We both LOVE the book about Birmingham history. Thanks Sue & Bill!
