JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Beautiful carp banners represent upcoming Children's Day on May 5th during Golden Week Holidays - a week-long series of National Holidays in Japan. Similar to US Spring Break . . .

The number of carp flags represent the number of boys in a household & the larger the carp, the older the child.

We've passed many homes with colorful carp banners flying today!

Aha! Finally -there's the sign for Tsuwano Town . . . We've enjoyed a beautiful drive along the Nishiki River and many small villages through the mountains this morning.

I remember the turquoise blue bridge! We're getting closer . . .
