JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! This is the 12-year old Scotch that Stan was drinking. After he ordered the first one, the waiter left the bottle, so he could just help himself & settle up when we left. Honor system . . . (only in Japan!)

Seafood Course: A Bluebird original - ebi (shrimp) puff pastry with cream sauce. The fried shrimp head & tail are baked into the pastry with succulent shrimp inside. You can't EVEN imagine how delicious this is! CLICK ON ANY PHOTO TO SEE LARGER, BUT ARROW BACK TO RETURN TO THE BLOG!

Wish I were hungrier, but here's the Main Course: From top, clockwise: Mashed potatoes with baked tomato, scallop, fried fish, smoked oyster, fried oyster, ebi (shrimp) tempura. Succulent!

And dessert (but of course!): Fresh ripe strawberry with cream, orange marmalade sherbet, lemon cheesecake, not sure what the dark ice cream was - maybe hazlenut? or black sesame? but it was nutty & delicious. And garnished with more mint for me to take home! And of course a lighted candle . . .

The Birthday Girl - this is what 64 looks like (humming Beatles song . . .) I guess he WILL still feed me. Thanks, Stan!
