JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! After a nice hot soak in the onsen bath, we're dressed & walking up the spiral ramp that circles around & above the huge lobby area. This would be a beautiful place for a bride to walk down to make her grand entrance . . .

We've made our way to Christmas Eve dinner & this is Stan's first course - sashimi - yum!

And my appetizer is a stuffed tomato with goodies inside, including meringue - not sweetened, but very foamy & tasty. Did you see the little Santas on our trays? They are origami - each made from one small sheet of paper that's red on one side & white on the other! How clever.

Stan's salad, steak and veggies. He gave me a small bite & this was the MOST delicious beef I've ever eaten! Japanese beef is famous for it's taste & tenderness. They're treated much more respectfully & humanely, and eat the proper diet in Japan, which results in better & safer beef . . .

And my sashimi - delicious! Click on the photo to see closer & you will see that there are vegetable shapes on my plate with the raw fish. We ordered two different entrees, so our dishes are different.
