Barbara has invited me to join her today on a drive to Tokuyama (also called Shunan - something to do with a 2003 merger of the cities). We're driving on Route 2, which travels inland (paralleling the Sanyo Expressway) instead of running along the seacoast like Hwy 188, so it's only about an hour's drive.
Highway sign on Route 2. If we stayed on this highway, we would eventually get to the end of Honshu (the big island) & cross over the bridge to Kyushu Island. But we're only driving to Shunan today.
Arriving at our destination. There's a nice divided 4-lane highway here.
We're inside the HUGE 100-yen store now. It's all on one level, instead of on 4 floors like the large one we have in Iwakuni, and Barbara said she's always wanted to stop here whenever they've driven past going to Yamaguchi for the monthly flea market. So today - here we are!
