I'm always fascinated by the design on the end tiles. Every tile on ALL the roofs of the many buildings were the same design. It is the family crest.
Closer view reveals detail. It reminds me of a yin-yang, but with 3 instead of 2 center designs.

Samurai suit from the Edo Period.


Family crest adorned this lantern, as well as many dishes and other items around the house.
