JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! There is a lot of interest in this old-looking Shinkansen parked on our track. We began to see excited people with cameras.

We soon found out that it was the first Shinkansen, built to run to Tokyo for the 1964 Olympics and it would be taking it's last ride the next day. Read more about the first bullet train here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinkansen

How different it looks from today's sleeker models! I remember my dad telling me about these trains & I always wish he could be here to ride with us in Japan . . .

One last look at Okayama before we depart.
