This is a poster for the doll show we attended at the Mitsukoshi Department Store, which is the oldest in Hiroshima. The artist is Atae Yuki & his dolls were very beautiful --incredible detail of ordinary Japanese people doing ordinary things during the Edo Period (@1600-1868). Unfortunately, no cameras were allowed, so I took pictures of these posters after we left the show. It was delightful having Miyako as my guide, because she read the sign for each display, and explained the time period for me. She also told me she could tell the profession or status of the people by the way they were dressed and their hair was done. They were all charming & delightful & made more so with Miyako's help.
