JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Hikari Heritage Parade

After our satisfying lunch, we drove back to the area where the Hikari market is held - but not today! Taiko drummers are rehearsing . . .

Look how young these performers are!

And here comes the parade!!! Look how hard these folks have to pull this large float with pine tree. Click to watch this brief video . . .

And look how loooong those red banners behind it are!

And - WOODEN wheels - that can't be easy to maneuver. . .

Upon closer view, you can see that these designs are sewn - NOT painted on!

It takes a village . . .

Cute little boys!

Wow - that float looks just like a large stone torii!

And these "workers" just look so joyous!

A huge white lantern . . .
