Later, as we drove back into Iwakuni on Hwy 15, we decided NOT to pass by Cafe Campagne, but to stop in for dinner. Good decision! I never really used to care much for Italian, but in Japan, it's just better . . . And we were happy to get seated quickly.
I love these eclectic chandeliers!
We shared this salad - yum!
And garlic bread is extra, but ALWAYS worth it - hot & fresh baked!
Stan's meat & tomato sauce pasta was topped with sausages. And below is the cheese grater which was left at our table with a chunk of parmesan during our entire meal. It's sitting on a sheet of an Italian newspaper - nice touch!
I had the carbonara (bacon/creamed egg sauce) - delicious, light & creamy!
And of course iced coffee - served in a very tall glass. I don't know how they did this without it mixing together. . .
But here's the best part - dessert sampler! Just a bite of everything . . . decorated with flavorful fruit sauces. Look at the outline of a dessert spoon made out of cocoa! If you click & look closer, you can see the large purple grape that has been partially peeled.
Stan didn't really want to share when he saw the apple/caramel pastry on the menu . . .
. . . full of sweet sliced apples.
