JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Beautiful embroidered fabric picture of Mount Fuji on the end.

Stan - supervising the "turn-around"???

Look at the gorgeous embroidered designs on the fabric just under the lanterns. We found out later that this parade was begun 350 years ago and the wooden floats are mostly original . . . repaired as needed. Wow!

Bats?!?!?!?

Groups and families seem to be settling down on the blue tarps to eat, so time for us to leave. SO glad we were able to watch this today!

Children climbing an old tree as we walk toward our car.

And large black birds circling overhead looking to settle in for the night? (or a before-bed snack?)

About 5:30 PM as we drive back toward Iwakuni along the Seto Inland Sea . . .
