JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Tsuwano in Summer, Day 2 - 7/28/11

Every time Stan walked across our hotel room, he ran into this low-hanging light fixture. Fortunately for him, it's was covered in soft fabric, so it would swing back & forth. Fortunately for you, Dear Reader (and perhaps to prevent Stan more embarrassment), I cropped this picture below his neck . . .

View from our 6th floor balcony. The bridge below is part of the road that leads into downtown Tsuwano, passing this hotel half-way down the hill. The colorful diesel train (in the center) is just approaching at the station. The steam train only runs during winter.

Sign near the elevator showing the floors. We're on the 6th (top!) floor of the Tsuwano Sky Hill Hotel. The onsen is on the 3rd floor, but it's too hot for hot bath this time of year. There's also a sauna on the main floor, but again - too hot!

Whaaaaat???

Aha - signs on elevator doors suggest that if you place your finger between the closing doors (as Stan is demonstrating) it WILL pinch like a crab . . .

Walking down the stairs from the lobby into the lower level restaurant for our breakfast buffet. The two-story glass wall with the view of Tsuwano below is to the left.

Looking from our table back toward the stairs & lobby above.

Our breakfast buffet. We were the only ones here this morning. Soup bowls, rice bowls, and trays. The large round container holds white rice, and soup beyond that before all the entrees.

Plenty of choices, but all Japanese breakfast foods. No fat & sugary American choices here! But we actually like Japanese breakfast . . .

Drink area includes water, glasses, cups, tea & coffee.

M: "Hey Stan!" S: "Mmmmm???" Oops, forgot to say "Smile!"
