It's cozy in here, but time for us to leave. If we stay much longer (and if Stan has any more SHOCHU) we'll miss the egret dance & that's what we came for! So we said our arigatos & sayonaras & pedaled off. What a fun adventure this has been & we made some new friends!
We're heading down the narrow street & hoping we can find our way back to a main street, but Stan's having a little trouble keeping his balance . . . I told him if he fell, I would ride away & pretend I didn't know him.
So we made it back to Tonomachi Street. It looks like the first event will start here. I believe this is the Hanko Yorokan (Tsuwano Clan-run school) - this is where the crowd is gathering, so we set up our camp chairs under the shade of a large ginko tree.
White egret decorations.
Cute little girl.
Participants gathering . . .
New Japan / Old Japan
Looking up into the ginko tree towering above us. This street is lined with them & they are all bright golden in autumn.
New best friends met right next to us.
Oh I think the policeman walking down the street means it's going to start soon . . .
