JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! It's cozy in here, but time for us to leave. If we stay much longer (and if Stan has any more SHOCHU) we'll miss the egret dance & that's what we came for! So we said our arigatos & sayonaras & pedaled off. What a fun adventure this has been & we made some new friends!

We're heading down the narrow street & hoping we can find our way back to a main street, but Stan's having a little trouble keeping his balance . . . I told him if he fell, I would ride away & pretend I didn't know him.

So we made it back to Tonomachi Street. It looks like the first event will start here. I believe this is the Hanko Yorokan (Tsuwano Clan-run school) - this is where the crowd is gathering, so we set up our camp chairs under the shade of a large ginko tree.

White egret decorations.

Cute little girl.

Participants gathering . . .

New Japan / Old Japan

Looking up into the ginko tree towering above us. This street is lined with them & they are all bright golden in autumn.

New best friends met right next to us.

Oh I think the policeman walking down the street means it's going to start soon . . .
