Stan's udon was served in a cast iron bowl, sitting in a wood container. Wow!
He waited a REALLY long time for his udon. We think they were making the noodles fresh in the kitchen. These are the largest (and he said the tastiest!) udon noodles ever. They were also VERY spicy, so I didn't try them. Meanwhile, I had an appetizer plate of salmon carpaccio - fabulous & sitting on a bed of fresh greens with delicious dressing. Guess I was too hungry - no photo!
We also wanted to try the BBQ ribs - first time we've seen this on a menu in Japan! They came with scissors, but they were so tender - literally falling off the bone - we didn't need to use them. The sauce was not hot & very sweet.
And we also shared a small hamburger with homemade bun, which included 6 fries that were actually made of real potatoes!
We also shared a small ice cream sundae that included corn flakes in the bottom.
In the women's bathroom, I found the usual fancy toilet, but . . .
. . . as I approached, the lid raised up (hands free!) AND the little blue seat light came on! This was a first for me! Just when I think I've seen every fancy toilet made . . .
And look at this tiny sink - but it serves the purpose.
Back out on the sidewalk & heading home, the bright overhead sidewalk lights are off since most everything is closed downtown at night, and have been replaced by these dimmer overhead "night lights." We are very close to the downtown train station here, so our bike ride home is only about 15 minutes.
