On the local headed for Ajina, Stan's enjoying the view. We only have about a 20-min or so ride because Ajina is just one stop past Miyajima. (For my local friends - be sure you are NOT on the express train, because it won't stop at Ajina!)
Once we arrive at the station & walk upstairs to exit, there is a very long, elevated walkway that exits the station and leads directly over Hwy 2 - & toward the sea. It leads into (and through) the Fuji Grand (large blue sign) and toward all those fabulous hi-rise apartments facing the sea to its left. We're going to have dinner in a restaurant that we went to several years ago with a large group, that is right on the sea. Long, but very easy & safe walk, because we don't have to fight the traffic.
Looking down from the elevated walkway over Hwy 2 in Ajina.
Stopped to potty in the Fuji Grand before continuing our walk. Not fancy, but it has a potty I can sit on - hooray, and it's large enough to include a low, little potty - for children, maybe?
Not much larger than my foot - cute.
Looking into a store featuring colorful summer kimono (yukata) as we walk through the Fuji Grand after crossing the walkway over Hwy 2. We just keep walking straight through & come out the other side where there are many restaurants on two levels.
But we keep walking past many restaurants toward the sea & cross another small street. At the very end just before the seawall is where we're going to eat. Next to this restaurant, are the beautiful hi-rise apartment buildings we saw from the station. What a PERFECT place to live this would be! Walking distance from the train station, many shops & restaurants.
Now, we're sitting on Mario Di Mare's outside patio enjoying the cool evening air. Kampai, Stan! Of course, the Seto Inland Sea is behind Stan (and a walkway runs along the seawall). While we drank & ate, several boats went by and many people were walking & jogging. We're just relaxing and taking our time.
Oops - we forgot that they don't have an English menu OR food pictures, but our waiter spoke a little English & translated for us, and we spoke enough Japanese to order. We started with a large shared green salad and garlic bread. Yum!
