JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Some worshipers are dressed in kimono and some in Western-style. Not sure what era this represents.

Looking into this buildings that's remained unpainted. Most of the shrines we see in Japan look more like this. There's a huge taiko drum inside on the left side, and wooden prayer cards you can purchase on the right.

One last look at the shrine we climbed up here to see.

Time to start back down. Stan's decided to count the stairs because there's no way there were 1200 or even close to that!
