Oh, here's my "new" 3-wheel bicycle table (in honor of the one I actually ride every day!) next to a chair that Ingrid gave me before she moved. On the chair is the framed chigerie tiger I recently finished for 2010 - the Year of the Tiger. Japanese will display it this year, and then put it away for another 12 years until the Tiger year rolls around again. For more info & some of my previous chigerie projects, go RIGHT HERE
Closer view of my tiger - I love the frame, too!
This yaezakura (cherry blossom with more than 5 petals) was a VERY long project for me. I started it last March (2009) but didn't finish it until recently. Of course I was out of the country for 3 months last summer, but still . . . There are many varieties of cherry blossoms, and this is one of my favorites & blooms later than the others, with leaves. If you're interested, READ MORE HERE!
Closer view. These may look like watercolor paintings, but it's really made from tiny pieces of exquisite washi paper torn & glued in layers . . . a true lesson in patience for this American!
And here's a purple thistle.
Each tiny strip of this petal is made by tearing a thin piece of washi paper, moistening with glue & then stretching and rolling to the appropriate length & thickness - very time-consuming, but very realistic, don't you think?
